Over the Thanksgiving break, it is important that you stay engaged with the AP Art History material, but also important to get time away from it as well. The one request I have over the time off, is that you watch the 30 minutes video located at the following web address:
http://www.learner.org/courses/globalart/theme/10/index.html
This video is #10 in the the Art Through Time series and the theme of the program is “the natural world.” When you have finished the video, take some time to answer the following questions. Your responses should be limited to no more than one or two paragraphs, and you should use specific examples to illustrate points made in your response. There is also written material to access regarding this program at this address:
http://www.learner.org/courses/globalart/assets/pdfs/theme_10_text.pdf
Enjoy the video and the rest of your vacation.
Video Questions:
1. How have representations of nature in art been associated with spiritual beliefs?
2. How has the relationship between humans and the natural world traditionally been portrayed in the art of Asia?
3. How have artists incorporated plant and animal motifs into their works? What materials from the natural world have they used?
4. How do artistic changes to the physical environment alter the way the viewer sees the natural landscape?
5. How does architecture relate to the natural environment?
Your responses will be collected when we return to class on Monday, November 26.
