Chapter 20 Homework

With the Mid-Term break arriving shortly, we will need to continue maintianing a vigilant schedule in order to complete our studies of all the material we need to cover. It would be extremely beneficial to begin reading ahead into both Chapter 20 and Chapter 21 so that we may pick up our studies after mid-terms with renewed vigor. Your assignment for Chapter 20 is listed below. Another assignment for Chapter 21 will follow next week, so be sure to check back with the blog during exams.

Date: Wed., January 30

To this point, you have answered questions posted here while reading the week's chapter assignment. For the chapter on the 16th century in Italy however, your assignment is to write out 6 questions from the chapter which you feel would help direct another reader to a better understanding of the art and concepts included in this chapter.

The 6 questions should go beyond the recall or recitation of basic knowledge, but elicit a need for analysis and evaluation of the material. For example:

Rather than composing a question on Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel ceiling that asks:

What images are included on the Sistine Chapel ceiling?

Try:

How does the arrangement of images on the Sistine Chapel ceiling reflect the relationship between Italian art and the papacy in the early 16th century?

You will of course, also need to write out the answers to the questions you turn in.
