The Power of Art

The derth of days in which we are meeting this year has placed us very far back from the schedule we should be maintaining for the AP test in May. In order to compensate for some of that lost time in class, I'm providing you with some video that covers two of the most influential artists of the Italian Baroque, Gian Bernini and Caravaggio. Both episodes were produced by Simon Schama, the noted British historian (Citizens, Rembrandt's Eyes, etc.). They are part of his series called the Power of Art which focuses on twelve influential artists throughout history. The link below should take you to the Caravaggio video, while my previous post has the video embedded within the blog. Make note of the artworks shown within these films and the context in which the artist's created them. Both artists are exceptionally important as communicators of the Counter Reformation, and as highly innovative and talented individuals. http://www.veoh.com/watch/yapi-ZUeGRGLGXFY
